Lunar and Meteorite Rock Samples Land at RUSK !
|
During the week of November 10th students at Rusk Science Lab will get a special lesson on Lunar Rock and Meteorite formations. The Johnson Space Center in Houston has provided the school with a special collection of lunar rock, soil and meteorite samples on loan to the school due to a grant from the Texas Space Grant Consortium. The rock samples are enclosed in a special protective disc that allows the students an opportunity to handle the samples. The rock and soil samples are labeled as to the location on the Moon in which to lunar rock samples were collected along with the chemical makeup of each.
Thank you NASA and the Johnson Space Center for bringing a piece of Space Exploration to our campus!

EARTH DAY: April 22, 2014
Students in 4th and 5th grades were asked to contribute to the school "tree fund." Trees for the school garden are purchased annually by parents or students in celebration of Earth Day. This year Science Club members celebrated Earth Day on April 21st (due to testing on the 22nd). Two Crepe Myrtle bushes were planted on the north end of the school. This space was chosen because it has "reclaimed" rainwater from nearby gutters and more shade. Thank you to all who contributed!
KVIA TV Channel 7 Weather Academy!
This year our school was chosen to be a part of the KVIA TV Weather Academy! Weather personalities Karla Huelga and Nicole Gomez were guests of Rusk Elementary on May 22, 2013. Students in 4th and 5th grade classes were treated to lessons on Weather maps, weather terminology and different types of weather systems. Hands-on activities included an investigative look at how clouds form and how cold and warm air masses behave. THANK YOU Channel 7 for bringing the Weather Academy to RUSK Elementary!
Mr. R. Villalva:Here is some information from Mr. Villalva's former classroom. It is a copy of what other parents could read about their child's teacher -- 5 years ago..... hobbies, family, etc.
